I was so deeply touched this week when I got feedback from a new Special Yoga for Special Children practitioner. She was able to help a profoundly autistic boy, who was in deep distress, using her loving presence and a little massage:
"Last week he was really explosive and aggressive, slapping and pulling the hair of me and the other carers. When I arrived yesterday within five minutes he had smeared and then showered for his fifth change of clothes that day. He let me do hand and foot massage and then I was able to massage his head. He actually fell asleep and snored soundly for 45 mins. The staff were amazed and even shocked that I could be that empathetic and emotionally calm with him.“
Here in Bournemouth, one of the children that i work with has complex needs and a great deal of physical pain, throwing herself around and banging her head hard. She was soothed by the healing vibration of the Tibetan Singing Bowls. Another Special Yoga practitioner is finding deep healing for herself as well as the children with Yoga Nidra. The tools that we use at Special Yoga have a profound effect on us, as well as the children.
I want everyone to be able to use them for their own healing as well as supporting the children in our care or those that grace us with their beautiful presence for their yoga sessions. This has to be a big part of the healing of the world.
