The one-day workshop has been funded by Sports England and will form a part of Sense’s Deafblind Active project. Through this workshop you will support a new community in experiencing the physical, mental and social benefits Special Yoga has to offer.

Expect to be equipped with the skills to teach on a one-to-one basis or in small group situations with tailored yoga sequences and massage work to assist a congenitally deaf-blind / multi sensory impaired child or adult in finding ways to live a better quality of life.

This course will take place on the 24th of November 2017.

This training runs from 9:30-5:30 with an hour for lunch and appropriate breaks throughout the day.

Course tutors

Graham Nolan holds a teaching Diploma with BWY as well as a Diploma in Deaf-blind Studies. He has been working in the field of Multisensory Impairment for 20 years and been a yogi for almost as long. He is currently undertaking his Masters in the University of Groningen, in The Netherlands in the subject ‘Communication and Congenital Deaf-blindness’ – his research is based on Mindfulness and tactile communication.


Teaching Style

You will be guided through highly effective and accessible strategies for integrating the remedial advantages of Special Yoga Foundation methodology into the lives of people with special abilities. With these skills you will have the ability to tailor various settings to the specific needs of the child or group you support.

This course is open to all, including people who do not teach yoga professionally. Regular attendees of this course include but are not limited to:

Is this course recognised?
You will receive a Special Yoga Foundation Certificate of Participation after completing the course. The Teaching Yoga to Adults and Children with Multisensory Impairment is recognised by ASDAN and Yoga Alliance.
Can I practice professionally with this course?
